Shiite Islam, with its emphasis on social justice and equality, has a strong feminist perspective that empowers women. In this school of thought, women are seen as equal to men in terms of spiritual worth and capabilities, and are encouraged to actively participate in society and pursue education and career opportunities. This perspective on gender equality and empowerment resonates with me personally, and has led me to embrace Shiite Islam as a feminist ideology.
